AFGRP has delivered a number of crucial technical solutions to aquatic animal health issues that affect production of aquatic animals in developing countries. A key focus is to ensure that this research has maximum benefit for the poor.

Aquatic animal health, however, is not just about delivering solutions for the animal. The wider social impact of aquatic animal diseases and the way in which these spread is key output of a range projects funded by AFGRP under this theme. The range of research has also increased the capacity of institutions in developing countries to provide appropriate and timely solutions for the farmers who need it most.
