Project summary
Culture of Pangasius spp. occurs widely in Vietnam and by entering domestic and global markets successful production can enable rural households to accumulate social and economic assests. However, production yields and quality have decreased since 1999 due to disease outbreaks, thus increasing farmers' vulnerability to system shocks and compromising livelihood options. This project aims to develop, test and disseminate risk reduction strategies for use by artisanal fish producers to lessen the impact of BNP outbreaks on fish production for the domestic and international markets and provide guidance to policy agencies on status direction and strategic management of Pangasius culture.
